Dunproofin'...

The ever brilliant Dunproofin' (remixer and general musical maestro) has remixed 'Little One' by Lord Numb.
And he's not only done the one version, but along with an incredibly good reworking of the original he's made a sublime beatless version too.
Both these versions can be downloaded free from the ever giving Dunproofin's website.

The original version of 'Little One' can be found on the album 'Numbskull' which can be downloaded free from Lord Numb's page on SVC.

Make A Joyful Noise...

Every now and again here at svc towers we like to treat you guys to a freebie...
Past free releases have included ep's or albums by the likes of Sweet Billy Pilgrim, The City & Horses, Seb Roberts and The Phantom Carriage, proving that free does not necessarily mean shit.
Anyway, Lord Numb and ourselves have decided to carry on the tradition so we're giving away his debut album 'Numbskull' as a free high quality download.

Lord Numb hails from London Town and armed with his Moog and his Telecaster (spliced together at a molecular level) has created his own little universe. In this universe you will find David Bowie, I Monster, Eno, Whitey, Kraftwerk, AC/DC, Air, The Cure and Daft Punk all hanging out and 'jamming good with Weird and Gilly'....

Head on over to Lord Numb's page at svc to listen to a couple of tracks, read a little more and download the album.

The Vandelles self titled EP is released today, so if you're scared of very very loud fuzz drenched guitars then you'd better not visit their page on SVC and listen to a track before buying it on CD or Download...
But on the other hand, if you love the idea of a band combining the sounds of The Jesus & Mary Chain, Link Wray, The Beach Boys, The Ramones and The Ronettes then that's the best place for you to head to...

Best Album of the Year...

The whole world are doing end of year lists at the moment, so I thought I'd join in....
But I'm not going to pick anything that was released on SVC, naturally I love them all and have written about them here there and everywhere, so I'd imagine you'd think that was a bit too obvious.
So for my favourite album of the year I'm going to pick a re-release that might just have slipped under your radar.
The album in question was originally released in 1988, it was gnarly, twisted and gloriously noisy. Razor sharp guitars that could take the top of your head clean off, very low slung bass lines that could re-arrange your insides, and all pinned down with powerful rhythms, it really didn't get better than this back in the 80's. Nothing sounded quite like this back then, and still to this day nothing has come close.

I am of course talking about 'Let's Play Domination' by the mighty World Domination Enterprises.

The album was re-mastered and repackaged with the four singles and an unreleased track earlier this year by World Dom's own chief guitar mangler and singer Keith 'Dobbo' Dobson and released on his Free Love Records label... and it sounds better than ever.

This really is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Full Stop.

Buy 'Let's Play Domination - The Analogue Remaster' now... here.

Happy Christmas.

The Sky Drops - Bourgeois Beat

How excited am I....
Incredibly, that's how much.
The Sky Drops have been around a couple of years now, but after the release of their brilliant debut EP 'Clouds of People' in 2007 they had to take a year or so off due to health reasons, but they are back, and with an absolutely stunning album 'Bourgeois Beat'.
Although The Sky Drops have only been around a few years I have been aware of (and a fan of) the duo of Rob Montejo and Monika Bullette for some time now in their previous separate incarnations.
Rob was responsible for Smashing Orange, the proto US shoegaze act from the early nineties who were signed to MCA and released a couple of albums and four singles and spent quite some time in the indie charts here in the UK.
Skip forward nearly 15 years and I received an email from Monika as she was about to release her fantastic debut album as Bullette called 'The Secrets' for free as a download, and I was lucky enough to be one of the very first people to write about it on my old Spoilt Victorian Child blog back in 2005, and lo and behold, who turned up on the album... Yep, it was Rob.
So I guess it was only natural that these two talented people should start a fully fledged band together. And the result is stunning, the legendary Kramer (Butthole Surfers, Bongwater, Shimmy Disc label head honcho and producer extraordinaire) said "I fucking LOVE it" about the album... and he's not wrong. It's gaze-grunge of the very very highest quality.

The band have also made a special video for the SVC release, it's for the track 'Stone White' which features on 'Bourgeois Beat' and can be found in all it's glory on YouTube here.
And there is also a great piece about The Sky Drops in this months Out & About Magazine that the band have put up on their site along with a couple of fantastic pictures by Joe Del Tufo and you can read that here.

The album is released throughout the UK and beyond on CD today, along with the customary SVC high quality zipped up mp3 download including full print quality artwork.
The CD is available via mail-order on The Sky Drops page on SVC here or if you'd prefer just pop into your local record shop.
For more info about the band then please visit The Sky Drops at their website here.

Ringo Deathstarr - In Love

Well, it's been almost two years since the last new release from Ringo Deathstarr...

The Sky Drops...

Today sees the US and Digital release of the debut album by The Sky Drops. The album is entitled 'Bourgeois Beat' and is chokka full with beautiful tunes swathed in loud guitars.
The above video features the track 'Truth Is' from it, and this gives you a bit of an idea about how bloody good this album is.

You can purchase the album on CD from The Sky Drops website here, or visit your favourite digital download store to grab it.
But what about us here in the UK I hear you cry, well fear ye not as the CD will be released over here by yours truly on the 5th of October in the big chains like HMV etc, but more importantly in your favourite little local record shop too. Oh, and it will also be getting the customary SVC digital download treatment of high quality mp3's and full printable artwork at a lovely bargain price.

SVC faves and all round nice guys Sweet Billy Pilgrim have been nominated for the Mercury Prize.
I'm speechless, but not totally suprised as their second album 'Twice Born Men' released on David Sylvian's label Samadhisound has been garnering a plethora of amazing reviews, and quite rightly so. It's quite frankly a stunning album.
